The benefits of being a volunteer
As a volunteer, you receive the following benefits:

We are looking for people who want to be a part of the museum team, using our time, skills, and energy for the benefit of the museum’s treasures and its visitors.

Volunteer Coordinator
Energetic? Have great verbal skills? Like people?
The Museum needs a volunteer coordinator to recruit, schedule, motivate, keep the Museum’s growing corps of volunteers informed, and act as a liaison between volunteers and museum management.
Museum Host
If you like history and meeting new people this is an opportunity for you.
Greet visitors,
Take admissions,
Orient visitors to museum options,
Answer basic questions,
Answering phone,
Clerk the gift shop.
Overnight in History
Cleaning, cooking, or talking to people - you choose!
Its first season in 2020, the Overnight in History program needs volunteers to prepare the rooms before and after guests, cook and host breakfast or optional dinner, or interpret the history of the venues.
Collections
Detail-oriented? Like typing? Like cleaning interesting objects?
Process old and new collections in a database,
Monitor environments to prevent long term collections damage,
Monitor and eliminate rodent and insect threats,
Research the historical significance of an object,
Properly clean objects.
Grounds Keeping/ Maintenance
Like to grow flowers and vegetables? Like to fix things?
Grounds keeping – includes weed control, mowing, and trimming.
Gardening – includes prepping, planting, watering and weeding flowers and homestead garden
Maintenance – includes woodworking, painting, some mechanics.
Events
Planners, cooks, bakers, servers, hosts, cleaners - events need it all!
Events bring people together, and offer a taste of history while doing something fun.
Gather materials,
Find donations,
Be a good host/hostess,
Cook, dish up, serve,
Be friendly with participants.
School Programs
If you love history and like to talk to kids, this is an opportunity for you.
Classes from area school come out to the museum for special tours.
